James Robert Davidson, son of Lillian Smith Davidson and Walter Davidson was born in Russellville, Arkansas on March 17, 1939 and grew up in Alabama Village, in Prichard AL. He is (preceded in death by his mother and father, survived by the first cousins: Mary Jane Dameron, Cynthia Carr, Terry Salmon, Janie Barnett, Mary Lea Barnett and numerous second and third cousins. Among those mourning his loss is his dear friend Cheryl Burch, her husband Tom and their children which were a cherished part of his life.
He graduated from Vigor High School in 1957. He attended Trinity Methodist Church, lead by Pastor David J. Jones as a young boy but joined Northside Bible Church as a youth, following Pastor David Jones. He has been a faithful member of Northside since that time, offering his time, talents and treasures to the local church. He served in the Army during peace time at Fort Bragg. Robert enjoyed working with the Jaycees and was President of the Alabama Jaycees for five years. He worked for ARA stocking snack machines and later joined the Chickasaw Police Department where he served until he retired. He has lived in Chickasaw for the last 40 plus years. While serving his community as a policeman and fire-medic, he also served his local church. "Brother Robert" as we all call him, was the chairman of the Board on numerous occasions, and has lead children's church, and children's Sunday School Classes for years. Since his retirement he has taken numerous mission trips overseas to teach children about the grace and gospel of Jesus Christ. He has been to Romania several times, Albania, and the Dominican Republic with Northside. For the last 12 years he has served as an Elder of Northside. Brother Robert serves for us as example of a man who continually served the true and living God (1 Thessalonian 1:9-10). Even in his latter months he was a strong prayer warrior for his church, family, nation, and pastor. He will be greatly missed but we are so joyful to know he is fully healed, whole and walking with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Northside Baptist Church with a funeral service immediately following. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
