James Curtis Mallon, Sr. - a 77 year-old native of Heron Bay, Alabama and resident of Dauphin Island passed away in Mobile, Alabama on Monday, February 14, 2022. In his youth he worked as a commercial fisherman on Dauphin Island and as an adult worked in the shipbuilding industry in Bayou La Batre. He was a parishioner of St. Edmund by the Sea Catholic Church and was a Mason. Mr. Mallon was a skilled as an artist and woodworker, enjoyed collecting coins and knives, and was an avid outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Vincent Mallon and Augusta Lyons Mallon. Mr. Mallon is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Pearl Mallon; children, Mallory Mallon (Leslie), Vivian Stevens (Shane), and Curtis Mallon, Jr. (Stacy); five grandchildren, Britini Stevens, Paul Mallon (Madison), Ben Mallon, Nicholas Mallon, and Noah Mallon; other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Edmund by the Sea Catholic Church on Dauphin Island on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the Mass. Interment will be in Dauphin Island Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gil Arnett, Jeff Collier, Ricky Harbison, Jr., Larry Harbison, Jr., Jay Oakwood, and Randy Collins, Sr. with Preston Mallon and Darrell Mallon serving as honorary pallbearers.
