
James Lamar Morrison, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 3, 2025. James was born to Ernest Linwood Morrison, Sr. and Frances Barrett Morrison on July 16, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1964, and continued his education at William Carey University in Mississippi, where he acquired his X-Ray Technician certifications. James then went on to have a lucrative career with Mobile Infirmary until becoming a Radiologist for Thomas Hospital, where he worked for over 15 years. James served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed tinkering with computers, and programming in several languages to obtain a better knowledge of how they functioned. James loved gardening – growing a myriad of fruits and vegetables. He was fascinated by physics and astronomy and enjoyed inventing and working on self-made projects as well as home improvement projects. James was very interested and active in politics throughout his life.
James was a giving and compassionate person. He was always there to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate. In his younger years, he would donate clothes and money to a multitude of charities. He never lacked the courage of his convictions, but he was always open-minded to many facets in life. James had a great sense of humor and always chose to make jokes to lighten the mood. He was a devoted Christian and made it a point to watch sermons on Sunday when he couldn’t physically attend church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Linwood Morrison, Sr. (1975) and Frances Barrett Morrison (2013); three brothers, Jerry Leon Morrison (2016), Ernest Linwood Morrison, Jr. (2023), and Phillip Charles Morrison (2024); and one cousin, Sharon Myers.
He is survived by his son, Tyler Morrison; brother, Francis Earl Morrison; sister, Nelda Ernestine Morrison; cousin, Bill Myers; as well as nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.
A graveside service will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10 a.m.
