James Roy Owen, age 84, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Jim, as he was fondly known, was born in Mississippi on September 21, 1941, to parents Hardy and Dorothy Owen.
After becoming a young man, Jim married the love of his life, Carole Ann Bell, whom he shared three children and a wonderful life of 55 years together. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved adventure and enjoyed such hobbies as water skiing and hunting. He was a successful entrepreneur in the school portrait and yearbook business, owning Jim Owen Studios, having a lifetime career that he loved.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Hardy Brackett and Dorothy (Huey) Owen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Ann Owen; his three children, Brent (Stephanie) Owen, Jimmy (Jenny) Owen and Jaime Owen; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce Owen and Don Owen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 am at Radney Funeral Home 3155 Dauphin Street Mobile, Alabama 36606. A celebration of life service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Redemption Church at 1251 Industrial Parkway Saraland, Alabama 36571.
