J. R. “Buddy” Stapleton, born in Mobile, on October 27, 1923 and died December 18, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah “Bootsie” Stapleton, parents Sumner Ruggles and Alice R. Stapleton, his son Randy Stapleton, Jr.
He is survived by his children, J. Martin (Star), Wayne (Debbie), Dan (Brenda) David Stapleton, his grandson Brian (Sabrina) three great grandchildren and other family.
He was a WW II Veteran and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1950. He sold insurance for Liberty National for may years.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the KOC and a founding member of Counsel 4888. He was an avid bowler and a life member Men’s Bowling Association and was inducted into the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame and the Greater Mobile Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday December 27, 2019. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 2655 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, AL.
Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Brian Stapleton, Ryan Hopkins, Jimmy Pose, Ben Nonnenmacher, James Bronold and George A. Brown. Online condolences may be made at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
