

Mr. James Marbry Tew, a resident of Mobile, passed away peacefully from this life on Monday, July 22, 2024. He was 92 years old. Born to Mr. Bryant and Margarette Tew on March 9, 1932 in Dothan, Alabama. James was the second of 3 siblings. He graduated from W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Alabama. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After his service, James attended and graduated from Troy University. On December 17, 1955 he married his childhood sweetheart, Clara Nell Grissett and made Mobile, Alabama their home. They were married for 62 years. James worked for Chevron Corporation, then worked for and retired from Ciba-Geigy in McIntosh, Alabama. James is survived by his three daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Wallace United Methodist Church. Mr. Tew is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Grissett Tew, his parents, Bryant and Margarette Tew, his sister, Cornelia Anne Hawkins, and his brother, Henry Bryant Tew. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Cynthia (Luther) Ward, Kathryn (David) Kilcrease, and Janelle (Jack) Fowler; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Parham, Holly (Nicholas) Goldman, Heather (Zachary) Fore, Hayden (Mary) Kilcrease, Jackson Marbry Fowler, and Bonnie Claire Fowler; great-grandchildren, James Easley, Mark Easley, Hadleigh Fore, Mary Blake Fore, and Ruth Goldman. The family wishes to thank Mrs. Rebecca Reaves, Ms. Jessica Barron and Ms. Vanessa Burns for the care and compassion they gave Mr. Tew. Appreciation is extended to Alabama Hospice Care of Mobile and their staff for their services. The family also expresses their deepest gratitude to Mr. James Fulford and Mrs. Martha Irvin for their life-long friendships and faithful support.
Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10:00 - 11:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am, with Chaplain Les Pierce as the officiant. Mr. Tew will be taken to Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road where he will be laid to rest.
