

Mrs. Nash was born November 1, 1927 in Mobile, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Frank W. Nash and sister Barbara Wall Alonzo.
Mrs. Nash was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Mobile Alabama. She was a graduate of Bishop Toolen Catholic High School class of 1945. She is a 1988 graduate of Toolen Institute for Parish Services (TIPS) and taught Adult Catechism throughout the Mobile Catholic Diocese for many years. She continued to be a popular Scripture teacher and leader of her Bible Study group at her home at Knollwood Pointe Assisted Living up until the time of her passing.
Jeanne was an avid reader and historian who enjoyed traveling all over the world discovering new places and exploring old ones. She loved to share her travels with her grandchildren; oftentimes taking them with her. She inspired her children and grandchildren with a legacy of continuing education, and to have a sense of adventure. She appreciated the wonders of the natural world and derived great pleasure from travel camping, gardening and bird watching. Equally she delighted in going to the theatre; plays, concerts and Broadway musicals. In her later years she was always glad to play Trivia or a game of Scrabble; and she would never miss an episode of Jeopardy. She was an intelligent, witty, and fun-loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She participated in many aspects of Mobile Mardi Gras and was Queen of a Mobile Mystic Society in 1945.
She is survived by her five children; Nick (Audrey) Matranga, Mobile, AL, David T. Matranga, Saraland, AL, Marilyn (Jerald) Kearney, Theodore, AL, Anthony J. Matranga, Mobile, AL, Julie (Don) Neidhardt, Mobile, AL; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters; Sara (James) Smith, Saraland, AL, Thomasine (Edward) Werneth, Orange Beach, AL.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 4156 Burma Road, Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall (Murphy Center). Burial will be at Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
