Joan graduated from Vigor High School in 1953. She attended Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing graduating in 1955. She later earned her BS in nursing from the University of South Alabama in 1986. Go Jags!
Joan was employed at Providence Hospital for 45 years taking care of the special needs of newborns. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church for over 50 years. Where she was active in the Riese Club,
She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Thomas ”Willie” Wilton Goodman; parents, William and Annie McCarron; infant daughter, Lisa Marie; her aunt that raised her Ethel Parks and grandparents, Silas and Evie Docken and brother, David Parks.
Mrs. Goodman is survived by her children, Carolyn G. (Mike) Burgess, Thomas W. (Irita) Goodman, Jr., Susan G. (Bruce) Girardeau; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Burgess, Sophia Girardeau (Logan) Byrd and Anna Girardeau; sister, Linda Parks (Gerald) Lamey and a brother, William E. “Buddy” Parks.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Omega Mosley, Gale Coleman and Brenda Williams.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary prayer at 6:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at St. Pius X Church.
Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
