

Joe Pugh Waller – an 88 year-old native and resident of Mobile passed away Monday, February 7, 2011. He was a co-founder and former owner of Waller Brothers Office Supply Company. After graduated from the Georgia Military Academy in 1941, Mr. Waller joined the United States Navy. He earned his pilot’s wings at Pensacola Naval Air Station and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman and pilot and built and flew radio controlled airplanes with a group at Battleship Park. Mr. Waller was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lee and Mary Ann “Mamie” Shannon Waller, and brothers, Charles Lee Waller, Jr., Shannon E. Waller, and John E. Waller. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Hagan Waller; children, Joseph Hagan Waller (Mary) and Melissa Gaines Waller; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Waller; grandchildren, Michelle, Erin, and Dylan Waller; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held in Magnolia Cemetery on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Marshall Craver officiating. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Wednesday, February 9, from 5-7 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be William Carl Davis, Dr. James M. Harrison, Jr., Charles Ray Mayhall, Jr., Terrance J. Silva, Charles Lee Waller, III, and Dylan Hagan Waller. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mobile Animal Shelter, 855 Owens St., Mobile, AL 36608 or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Rd., Mobile, AL 36608.
