John August Bowers

John August Bowers – Age 67, died Friday, September 2, 2011, in a local hospital. He was born in Norwalk, CT on March 1, 1944, to Elizabeth Krulish and John Thomas Bowers. He served in the United States Air Force as a radio operator in Thomasville, AL during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for Xerox Corporation for 33 years in several capacities and currently owned Coastal Copier Service in Mobile. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Thomas Bowers. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Gates Bowers of Mobile; two sons, John Anthony (Ann) Bowers of Mobile and William Chad (Laura) Bowers of Ft. Worth, TX; two grandchildren, Jackson Bowers and Caroline Bowers, both of Mobile; his brother, Edward (Elizabeth) Bowers and niece, Caitlin Bowers of Westport, CT. The family will receive visitors in the foyer of Spring Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
