

Mr. John Paul Marut , a native of Passaic, New Jersey and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 21 years passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Providence Hospital. Mr. Marut was born on October 19, 1923 in Passaic, NJ to Antonio Marut and Sophie Wdovack Marut, Polish immigrants. He was preceded in death by his parents, his six siblings, Andrew Marut, Edward Marut, Anne Marut Shearer, Mary Marut, Rosemary Marut Montaro, and Genevieve Marut Madly all of New Jersey. Mr. Marut graduated from Passaic High School and attended Newark College of Engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After his tour of duty in the Navy, he was hired by Dr. Dumont of Dumont Television after changing a flat tire for Mr. Dumont’s chauffer. Later, an opportunity from Lockheed Electronics became available and Mr. Marut worked his way up to an executive position and retired after 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Marut, nee Bonita Stringer of Mobile, AL; four sons, Todd Marut (Jill) of Madison, NJ, Grant Marut (Doris) of Robertsdale, AL, Glenn Marut (June) of Carmel, Indiana, and grandson – son, Hunter Marut at home; daughters, Tracy Marut-Perkins of Selma, AL and Dorry Marut-Toledo (Javier) of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Jacqulyn, Gregory, Jonathan, Diana, Sarah, Mallory, Meredith, Mason, McCann, Gavin, and Brayden; great-grandchildren, Seth and Gage; three loving sisters-in-law, Jean Norton, Nell Hill, and Claudia Simpson; a large extended family of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. celebration of life service for all family and friends at Christ United Methodist Church, Grelot Road, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
