John was born in Gadsden, AL to James William Stevenson and Bessie Maxine (Free) Stevenson on October 16th, 1943. He attended Emma Sansom High School.John William Stevenson, of Gadsden, AL, passed away on Friday, July 11th of natural causes in Foley, AL. There will be a private memorial service held by the family.
He was preceded in death by Gayle (Adams) Stevenson to whom he was married for over 30 years, his two daughters Kimberly June Stevenson and Amy Carol Smith, and grandson Dillon Wade Robinson.
John is survived by his spouse Esther Blythe, son Scott Campbell (Karrie), daughter Beth Harris (Johnny), son Scott Stevenson (Christy), grandchildren Ethan Robinson, Nicole Seals (Jon), Troy Yancey (Gabby), Kayley Stevenson, Emma Vaughn (Tyler), and Madison Stevenson, great grandchildren Willow and Geralt Seals, and Vivie Vaughn.
John was a terrific father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a wonderful friend to many.
His sense of humor was infectious, and he served his family with generosity and kindness his entire life. John left a legacy of faith, and devotion to his Lord and his family that provided an example to all who know him.
