John Frederick Sutton

John Frederick Sutton, a cherished resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on November 28, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 17, 1940, John lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion for his family and community.

John's early years were marked by his education at UMS, where he attended for 12 years and graduated in 1959. His career was spent working for Ryan Walsh Stevedoring Co. Inc. for 20 years.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Carrie Sutton; his son, John Frederick Sutton Jr.; and his brother, Beverly Sutton. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine S. (Lewis Jr.) Copeland; his grandchildren, Kristen (Adam) Moore, Katie Lynn (William) Kelly, Karoline Copeland (fiancé, Ryan McAdams), Luke Sutton (fiancé, Clair Jasinski) and Sydney Sutton; and his great-grandchildren, Bolton Moore and Daisy Kelly.

In his personal life, John loved gathering with his family, dancing, traveling—especially cherishing his trip to Israel—and was an avid fan of Alabama Football. He also enjoyed his monthly meetings with his UMS classmates at Bluegill, fostering lifelong friendships.

A visitation will be held on December 5, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Pine Crest Funeral Home, located at 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama, 36605. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 11:00 am to 11:45 am.
