Joyce Elaine Mercer Malpass, age 91, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Born in Wilson, North Carolina to Dock and Sadie Mercer, she was one of eleven children. Joyce was married to James E. Malpass for 65 years and together they had four children, Jim, Pam, David, and Jeff. After short stays in North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Texas and Alabama, they settled in Fort Walton Beach, Florida where they lived for 50 years. After the death of her husband, Joyce moved to Mobile, Al in 2017, to live with family.
Joyce is survived by her four children Jim (Patty), Pam (Geep), David (Toni), and Jeff (Gayle), 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 11:00 at Spring Hill Baptist Church, Mobile, Alabama. A short visitation will be held at 10:30 in the church sanctuary and then a reception will be held following the service at the home of Pam Shedd.
