

Judy was born June 23, 1948 in Chehalis, WA to Elizabeth and Walter Fox. She is survived by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Shirk; son and wife, Michael and Susana Shirk; sister, Sandy Torgrimson-Fox; and five wonderful grandchildren.
Judy and Chuck were married for 50-years, having met while both serving in the military in Washington, DC. Throughout her husband's 23-year Army and Coast Guard career, Judy had the opportunity to live in many states. Finally settling in Mobile, AL in 1980, she was given the opportunity to launch an enduring career in financial services where she thrived and developed lifelong relationships with her clients.
Judy’s career as a Financial Advisor spanned more than 30 years and included positions at 1st Southern Bank, A.G. Edwards, Morgan Stanley and most recently Merrill Lynch. At one point in her career, she was recognized as one of the “Top 500" female advisors nationally. At Merrill Lynch, she formed The Shirk Group where she served as a Sr. Financial Advisor, Sr. Vice President - Wealth Management.
Throughout her life, Judy's highest priorities were family, friends, service to others, as well as a fondness for pets and the arts. Over the last several years, she developed a passion for golf and enjoyed playing at her homes in Highlands, NC and Mobile, AL. An avid reader, Judy typified a lifelong interest in learning and loved sharing books with family and friends. She was a member of Ashland Place United Methodist Church and served on their Finance Committee. Additionally, she was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Club of West Mobile, helped with fund raising for the Mobile Botanical Gardens, was active in the Women’s Golf Association and Women’s Outreach Group at the Cullasaja Club of Highlands, and also an active supporter of the Mobile Symphony.
Services will be held at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36695 (251-479-4547) on Friday, July 14th, 2017 from 5 - 7 PM for visitation. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM. There will be an additionally memorial service on August 28th, 2017 at the Cullasaja Club of Highlands, NC. Memorial donations to a Humane Society or Symphony Orchestra of your choice are sincerely appreciated.
