Kate McIntyre Reeves

Kate McIntyre Reeves – a native of Coffeeville, AL and resident of Mobile, AL died Thursday, October 24, 2013 in a local hospital. She received her Master’s degree and AA Certification from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Reeves worked as a teacher in Clarke County and Mobile County for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace McIntyre; and brother, George McIntyre, Jr. She is survived by her husband, I.G. Leighton Reeves; her daughter, Mary Shirey; son by marriage, Dr. Mark Shirey; granddaughter, Caitie Beth Shirey; sister by marriage, Ouida McIntyre; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was known to many as Aunt Kate, to many more as Miss Kate, as she leaves behind a legacy of uncountable first grade students whom she loved as her own. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 27, 2013, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. prior to services. Graveside services and interment will be on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
