
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Emil and Maude Bergdolt on March 17, 1938.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Colleen; two sons, Erich (Stephanie) and Jeff (Jan); five grandchildren, Charlie, Abbie, John David, Beth, and Bailey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Bergdolt devoted his life to God, his family, the University of Mobile, and First Baptist Church of Chickasaw. He earned both a Ph.D. in musicology and undergraduate degree from the College Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. He earned a Master of Music degree from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, and a diploma in conducting from Internationale Bachakademie in Stuttgart, Germany. He was an expert in baroque and Renaissance music.
Funeral services will be held from First Baptist Church of Chickasaw on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the University of Mobile: the Bergdolt Honors Travel Fund or the Kenneth and Colleen Bergdolt Choir Room Renovation Fund, 5735 College Pkwy., Mobile, AL 36613-2842.
