Sergeant Major “retired” Kenneth Norman “Buzz” Buzzell, born on August 10, 1940, in North Vassalboro, Maine was sent to his eternal home on March 31, 2025 in Mobile, Alabama where he lived for the past 27 years. He was the beloved son of the late Derwood and Violet Buzzell.
“Buzz” was a devoted veteran and beloved family man who passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, determination, and love.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Cindy Powell Buzzell; his two brothers Roland Buzzell (Meg) and Jason Buzzell. He leaves behind his four devoted children, Elizabeth Enders of Clovis, New Mexico, Kenneth Buzzell (Gayle) of Huntsville, Alabama, Angela Rotier (Pat) of Appling, Georgia and Kelly Williams (Clark) of Mobile, Alabama; Forever cherished and remembered by his eight grandchildren, Joey Marquez, Mikey Marquez, Alyson Buzzell (Haley), Danielle Schaefers (Tyler), Sam Marquez, Felicia Bayless, Hayden Williams and Lindsey Turner (Stone); and 3 great grandchildren, Viviann, Eleanor and Jade Violet. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss him.
“Buzz” proudly served 25 years in the United States Army, where he distinguished himself through hard work and commitment. During his time in service, he attended and was the honor graduate from the esteemed Sergeants Major Academy in El Paso, Texas. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on those he served alongside.
After his military retirement, he continued his pursuit of excellence by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Jacksonville State University. Following his military service, he transitioned into a career as a loss control manager, bringing the same level of integrity and commitment to his work before his final well-earned retirement.
Beyond his professional achievements, “Buzz” had a deep love for motorcycles and cherished time spent with his family. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his determination, kindness, and the impact he had on those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the moments they shared with him.
A service to honor his life will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street this Friday, April 4th. Visitation will begin at 10am, funeral service at 11am and interment following at Pinecrest West Cemetery on Snow Road.
