

Mr. Kenneth Carter Damp, age 85, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carter I. and Velma Damp. Mr. Damp served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, holding membership with Toulmin Lodge #875, Al Hassan Grotto, Scottish Rite and York Rite. Mr. Damp retired after twenty seven years as a Chemist with A.E. Staley Chemical Company. He continued his career after retirement and was employed as a Chemist with Stockhausen, Celanese and Calgon chemical companies. In his 80s he continued to work, serving as an Adjunct Professor at Faulkner State University, Bay Minette, and owner of Kaydee Co., Inc. He was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He was a member of Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He was involved in Boy Scouts for many years. He took great joy in his family, enjoyed coin collecting, traveling, baking and building bird houses with his son. Mr. Damp is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clara Waggoner Damp, children; Carter (Susan) Damp, Mobile, AL, Kathleen (Tom) Irving, Katy, TX, Karen (Robert) Langham, Pike Road, AL and Christine (Ron) Barton, St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Curt (Jeanie) Damp, Prospect, KY, sister, Carolyn Knake, Havana, IL, grandchildren; Sarah (Ryan) Kyranakis, Flowery Branch, GA, Daniel (Jean) Irving, Houston, TX, Jessica (Joe) Irving-Marin, New Orleans, LA, Carlie (Simeon) Barbour, Mobile, AL, Justin Langham, Houston, TX, Joshua (Neeley) Langham, Montgomery, AL, Taylor (Michael) Melvin, Statesboro, GA, Jeremy Barton, St. Petersburg, FL and Tina (Tony) Ditmore, Mobile, AL and great-grandchildren; Lauren, Jason, and Rachel Kyranakis, Emma, Claire, and Henry Irving, A.J. and Alaina Melvin, and Madeline, Mary Parker and Meagan Ditmore. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church, Mobile, AL or charity of choice. A private family graveside service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
