Kenneth Gwinn Finlay age 73 passed away on April 6, 2024 at his home. He was born April 1, 1951 in Laurel, Mississippi to Albert Gwinn Finlay and Bernice Dunn Finlay. He was a proud resident of Lucedale, Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Susan Finlay and son John “David” Finlay. His brother, Albert Keith Finlay and Donna Finlay and their daughter Danielle Finlay Donisi of Concord, New Hampshire, and many cousins also survive him.
Ken worked 27 years for the University of South Alabama at the central utilities plant as chief plant operator. While at South Alabama he served as the President of the Employee Union for 25 years.
Throughout his life Ken was an avid horseman. He enjoyed showing horses, cowboy polo, team penning and quarter horse and thoroughbred racing and breeding. He was a Master Mason at (Athelstan Lodge) and also past Master. He was also a member at Potter Lodge and was a 32 degree Scottish Rite member along with a member of Abba Temple Shrine in Mobile, AL.
He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Lucedale, MS. He loved studying scripture daily. During his service to our Lord and Savior over the years he served as a deacon and church treasurer. He also coached boys baseball and basketball. He loved gardening and sharing his harvest with others. He was an avid Alabama football fan. Ken will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Valhalla Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL.
