

Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War from 1951 until 1954. He served in the meteorological unit. After his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Charlyne Taylor, to whom he was married for 56 years. He retired from Chevron after 24 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, loved to read western and mystery books, enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball, and was an avid University of Alabama football fan. Later in life, his greatest pleasure was listening to music he enjoyed in his younger days.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Charlyne Taylor Jackson and his parents, Roderick and Gladwyn Jackson.
He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Pierce, Kathy Rayborn, and Cindy (Chuck) Foster; six grandchildren, Jessica (Trey) Howell, Ryan Porter, Lindsay (James) Hurr, Joe (Lauren) Foster, Jackson Rayborn, and Lynn-Claire Rayborn; seven great-grandchildren, Connor, Emma, Ashlyn, Caden, Charleigh, Garrison, and Baby Boy Foster; his beloved friend, Harold Porter; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
