Lester Smith Shaw

Lester Smith Shaw age 70 of Mobile, AL passed away from an extended illness on August 4 at a local hospital. He was born in Mobile and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Murphy High School. He retired from Occidental Chemical and Petroleum after 35 years of service. In recent years, he also was employed by Brown’s Dairy and was very active in his church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Katherine Kofinas (Kay) Shaw and 3 children – Lester Steven Shaw of Mobile, Beth Shaw Walker (Arlie) of San Antonio, TX, and Daniel Markos Shaw of Gainesville, FL. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren – Katie Walker, Kirsten Walker, Justin Kennedy, and Jacob Shaw and his brothers and sisters – James Douglas Shaw, Harry Francis Shaw, Laura Harriett (Sue) Pitt, and Patricia (Patty) Elizabeth Burch. Lester was preceded in death by his parents John and Sadie Shaw and his brother John Shaw, Jr. Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday August 7, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
