Lillian Harris Terranova

With her family by her side, Lillian Harris Terranova, 91, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2015.

Lillian was born March 27, 1924, in Georgiana, Alabama, the youngest of five children born to James Gordon Harris and Esther Stallings Harris.

She was a graduate of Georgiana High School (1942), and shortly thereafter moved to Mobile to attend business school. While in Mobile, she met her future husband John, who was stationed in Mobile, with the Coast Guard. During her career, she worked in administration with several entities including: The US Post Office, The Mastin School of Nursing, and Bishop State Junior College. She retired in 1988 and moved to Fairhope, where she enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the Eastern Shore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: James G. Harris, Jr., James S. Harris, Mayre Mason, and Helen Folmar, and by her loving husband of 69 years, John.

She is survived by her sons, John P. Terranova, Jr. (Lola), of Mobile; Gary (Norma), of Montgomery, Texas; Barry (Judy), of Fairhope; her daughter Melanie Heath (Russ), of Fairhope; the mother of her grandchildren Laura Terranova, of Fairhope; and the mother of her grandchild Kimi Staples of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; her grandchildren: John Patrick Terranova, III (Monica), Lori Fields (Charles), Matthew Terranova (Sarah), Jessica Geist (Justin), Camille Terranova, Brett Terranova, and Lillian, Christopher and Katherine Terranova; her great grandchildren: Adam Phillips, Erika Phillips, Colton Phillips, Torie, Natalie and Libby Terranova, Zoey Terranova, and Madeline Geist; and her great-great grandson Fisher Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, September 28, in the Chapel, at Pinecrest Cemetery in Mobile. The burial will be immediately thereafter.

The family would like to express deep appreciation for the loving care given to both John and Lillian by Alexis, Samantha, Josephine and Malinda.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Haven, in Fairhope, Alabama.
