

Lillie Onita Powell Hitt – age 86, born September 5, 1924 in Mobile, and a resident of Semmes passed away Thursday, February 12, 2011. Mrs. Hitt served as a volunteer at Mobile Infirmary from 1982-2006 at the information desk as well as with admissions, the lab waiting room, rehabilitation recreation room and the Baby Rockateers. She served on the boards of the Mobile Infirmary Auxiliary from 1998-2007 and the Widowed Person Service from 1993-2007, serving as its secretary from 1993-1998. She was a longtime member of Providence Church of God (formerly Springhill Church of God) where she served in various capacities, including 28 years as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Hitt also served as a Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer and as an election poll worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Hitt, Sr. Mrs. Hitt is survived by her children, James Louis Hitt, Jr., George Clifford Hitt, I, Thomas Richard Hitt, Sr., Shirley Estelle Poiroux, Bobby Lee Hitt, I, Linda Sue Reeves, Ellen Lorraine Hitt-Tramell, and Lillie Darlene Kelley; sister, Ibernita Brill; brothers, Grover Cleveland Powell, William Albert Powell, Cornelius Powell, Thomas Edward Powell, and Charles Raymond Powell; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, eight great, great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from Providence Church of God on Monday, February 14, 2011, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Sunday, February 13, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will in Pine Crest Cemetery.
