

L. M. "Mike" McGoey, 72, of Tampa, Florida passed away on October 29, 2011. Mike was born and attended schools in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 1962. He was commissioned in the U. S. Air Force in 1963, serving tours in Turkey, North Dakota, Vietnam, Hawaii, the Pentagon, and Korea. Mike retired from the US Central Command, Mac Dill AFB, Tampa, Florida in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Louise Kohler McGoey; sisters, Joan Heiss and Jane McGoey; brothers-in law, Sonny Kneepkens, Tom Heiss and Ken McGrath. He is survived by sisters, Mrs. Sylvester (Beverly) Kneepkens, Mrs. Ken (Norma) McGrath; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (James) Kamps; and brother, Gary, as well as nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Mike was an Honorary Knights of Columbus, member of Tampa’s St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Tampa Elks Lodge 708, Tampa Moose Lodge 912, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the National Rifle Association. A memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope, Alabama on Friday, November 4, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. Mike will be laid to final resting at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington Virginia. A memorial Mass will be celebrated from Holy Cross Catholic Church in his birth home of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. with receiving friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Catholic Charities, 924 G St., NW, Washington D.C. 20001.
