
Born July 4, 1929 as Pauletta Jean Wheeler in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was later adopted by Frederick John and Esther Estelle Miller. She grew up a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she loved praising God with her musical talents.
She graduated East Grand Rapids High School, and attended college in Indiana and Michigan. Working at Butterworth Hospital, she met and married Dr. David Meredith Mullins in 1950. They later settled in Mobile, AL in 1956. Marilyn was a member of St. Francis St. Methodist Church until its closing, and was active in the community, serving with the Mobile Opera Guild, Florence Crittendon Home, Alabama Republican Party and America’s Junior Miss Pageant. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a fiercely loyal friend. She was loved by and preceded in death by her husband David in April 2012, and is survived by son David Meredith Mullins, Jr. (Julie) of Foley, AL; daughter Claudia Mullins Carroll (Pat) of Opelika, AL; grandsons Trey Mullins and Alex Mullins of Foley, AL; granddaughters Kelly Carroll McDougle of Florence, AL and Erin Carroll Blevins of Decatur, AL; great-grandchildren Joshua Ian McDougle and Abigail Grace Blevins. It was important to her that each life make a positive contribution. Hers did, as attested to by those whom she left to follow later. Her life made a difference in her corner of the world, and she will be missed. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home.
