
MARION E. Hatcher passed away on to a pain free life with our lord Jesus Christ on June 11 2015 she was 99 years young. She was born on 10 August 1915 at home in Hillsdale New Jersey. She grew up and completed High School there, just in time for the Great depression. She worked in New York City as a secretary on Wall Street. My mother was a beautiful woman and was asked to try out for the Rockets, a famous Dance Group in New York City, at the time and she passed the audition but she talked to her Religious advisor and she did not take the job. She started working for her father Frank Mead who at the time owned a Buick dealership. World War 2 came along and my Uncle Leslie Mead took her to a USO show party where she met my father Earl Flowers Hatcher. They got married and my father went to North Africa during this time my older sister Leslie was born. She passed away last year, it was so sad. Dad did not get back from the war until the spring of 1946 and I was born 9 months later. Garret Newton Hatcher was born and they had saved all their money during the war and bought a house in Hillsdale New Jersey. My father had a chance to go in the Air Force after I was born and we lived in a few places in New York and during that time Karen Edith Hatcher was born. In 1953 we went to Vienna Austria and Munich German for 4 years. After that Mom came to Mobile where they bought a house 2 years later we were sent to San Antonio Texas for 4 years. After that, we went to Tokyo Japan for 4 years. After that we came back to Mobile Al where mom lived until her death Her Husband Earl Passed away on March 30 1967. He was too young to die but Marion moved on with her life. She had started working for the Air Force and retired in 1976. She was a member of the Eastern Star she was the church secretary for 20 some years. She volunteered at Spring Hill Memorial and helped at the School for special children, she taught reading and writing at South Brookley, during this time she managed to travel the world. She had 3 children, 7 grand children and 4 great grand children. She was a very active lady and helped many people. We loved her so much she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. May she be at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ forever. A memorial service is set for Friday, June 19 2015 at Pine Crest Funeral Home with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a 10 a.m. memorial chapel service.
