Margie Vereen Lilly, a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on June 3rd 1969, she was the oldest child of Thomas Stacy Vereen and the late Sharron Benthal Vereen.
Margie grew up on Hollinger’s Island along the shores of Mobile Bay, where she developed a lifelong love of the water, the beach, and spending sunny days with friends and, later, with her daughters. She graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and dedicated more than 25 years of her career to serving the Archdiocese of Mobile, working faithfully in the Youth Ministry Office and the Catholic Schools Office. Her work was more than a job—it was a calling, and she touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and faith. Margie was also a gifted cook and hostess, known for effortlessly bringing people together with beautifully decorated gatherings and meals that never failed to amaze.
Above all, Margie was devoted to her family. She was a proud and loving mother to Alexandra Lilly Harrison (Andrew) and Annie Laurie Lilly, and a sweet Grandmama to her grandson, Griffith Thomas Harrison. She also shared a deep bond with Katherine Koppersmith James, whom she loved like a daughter.
Margie’s siblings, Jill Vereen Golemon, John Stacy Vereen (Shanna), and Todd Matthew Vereen (Samantha), along with many nieces and nephews, will forever remember her generous heart and joyful spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sharron Vereen.
Throughout her life, Margie was blessed with the kind of friendships that last a lifetime, including her dearest childhood friends, Dee Kent Perciavalle and Kim Lipscomb Evans. Those who knew her will remember her for her laughter, her love of the simple pleasures—a day at the beach, time with family, or a good conversation—and her unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Margie’s legacy is one of faith, family, and friendship, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation is at Little Flower Church at 9:30, Rosary at 10:30, and Mass at 11 on Tuesday September 16th, 2025.
