Age 82 of Mobile, Alabama
January 31, 1933 - August 27, 2015
Martha Haynie Rawls left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on August 27, 2015. She leaves her four children, John Hoyt Prisock of San Francisco, CA, David Wayne Prisock of Sugar Hill, GA, Barbara Ledet of Grand Bay, AL and Pam Jimmerson of Mobile. She is also survived by her brother Fred Hollis Haynie, Jr. of Cary, NC and sister Sylvia Long of Mobile. She also leaves seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Martha Graduated from Sheffield High School, Sheffield, AL, in where she was a top student and enthusiastic cheerleader.
• Graduated from Florence State University (now University of North Alabama), Florence, AL. While in college, she made mission trip to American Southwest to minister to the native Americans there.
• Received her Masters Social Worker degree from the University of Cincinnati.
•Martha had aspirations to be a missionary, but God had other plans. She married the love of her life, John C. Prisock in 1954, and while they attended Louisville (KY) Theological Seminary for a time, they soon started a family and John went to work for IBM where he had a successful career, later founding his own IT business. They lived for many years in Cincinnati, OH, where they raised their four children, and where she worked for (insert agency) as a Social Worker, loving and serving particularly the children of that community.
•Martha's life story is one of profound unconditional love marked by sacrifice of herself to others, particularly her family, caring for John for many years after he suffered a stroke, until his death in 1991. She married Roy Rawls in 1996 and worked side-by-side with him until his death in 2005. She poured herself out for her children and grandchildren as well, until shortly before her passing.
• A celebration of her life and entrance into Heaven will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Monday August 31 at 10am.
