Mary Marvin Sproles Anderson

Mary Marvin Sproles Anderson, age 86, a native and longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama died on Monday, March 25, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marvin Albert Sproles and Corinne Humphries Sproles and her sister, Corinne Elizabeth Sproles. As a child she was in the 1939 Mardi Gras Juvenile Court, graduated from Murphy Hugh School where she was a member of the Four Arts Club, she attended Queen’s College and the University of Alabama. While at the University of Alabama she continued her love of the theater as a member of the Black Fryers Club. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was a Charter member of the Joe Jefferson Players, was a lifelong member of Government Street Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir. She was active in the YMCA and over the years she has always helped many different charities, Mrs. Anderson always had a soft spot for those in need. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Rebecca Anderson Ivy (Richard) and son, Marvin Sproles Anderson (Denise); four grandchildren, Rachael Ivy Nelson, Corinne Ivy Lorge, Edward Downing Anderson and Catherine Denise Anderson; five great grandchildren, Emily Claire Nelson, Laura Abigail Nelson, Corinne Michaela Lorge, Susan Ann Lorge and Eleanor Rebecca Lorge. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2013 at 5:00 PM at Government Street Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to Allen Memorial Home.
