A dedicated educator, Mary spent her life shaping young minds in Moss Point, Mississippi, and later in Mobile, Alabama, where she proudly retired from the Mobile County Public School System. Her passion for teaching and her genuine care for her students left an indelible mark on countless lives throughout her career.
Outside the classroom, Mary found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader with an ever-growing collection of books, a devoted Alabama football fan who cheered on the Crimson Tide every season, and a lifelong lover of cats whose companionship brought her great comfort and happiness. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to many places, always eager to explore new cultures and experiences.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice B. Easterling.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Amelia R. Easterling, and her future son-in-law, Walter Neese, along with many former students, colleagues, and friends whose lives were made better by her care and guidance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter or literacy organization in her honor—two causes close to her heart.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, and she will be missed more than words can express.
