Mary Katherine Grimes

Mary Katherine Grimes- an 88 year-old native of Ashland, KY and longtime resident of Mobile passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2012. She served as a telephone operator in Atlanta during World War II. Following the war, she earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University and a Master’s degree from Appalachian State. She began teaching in schools from Oregon to Miami, FL. She eventually settled in Mobile where she began teaching at Greystone Bible School, retiring after many years of service as both a teacher and principal. Ms. Grimes was a longtime member of Greystone Bible Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, enjoyed traveling, and will always be remembered for her kind disposition. Ms. Grimes is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, and numerous former students. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 9, from 4-6 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
