Mary Jeanne Scassiferro Knowles

Mary Jeanne Scassiferro Knowles – a 69 year-old native of East Chicago, IN and a longtime resident of Mobile passed away at her home on August 18, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Jeanne was a charter member of the American Legion Post 88 Ladies Auxiliary and was later a member of the Post 76 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her son, James Allen “Jimmy” Doerr. She is survived by two children, Allysia Wolford and Terry Doerr; brother, John Scassiferro; close friends, Elizabeth Robertson, Rita Carol Durrett, Clara Gilmore, and Mary Rose; caregivers, Mary Nehls and Gay Daves; grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church on Monday, August 23, 2010, at 10 a.m. with Reverend John G. Lynes serving as Celebrant of the Mass. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday, August 22, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
