Mary Catherine Nance (Hearn), 34, native of Daphne, Alabama, died in St. Louis, Missouri on February 1, 2024. She was born in Mobile, Alabama November 9, 1989 to Robert and Mary Hearn. We all knew her by various names. Throughout her school years she transitioned from being called Mary Catherine to Catherine to (most popularly) Cat. Post high school she eventually chose to be known as Mary. She attended Christ the King School (K-8th) and Daphne High School. Her undergraduate education included a few courses at Faulkner Community College. She then attained a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration through the University of Phoenix. She enjoyed her work in the entertainment industry.
Preceded in death by her father, Robert Hearn, and her grandparents, Dillard and Genevieve Hearn, John and Anna Bignoli. She is survived by her mother Mary Miljak (Hearn), stepfather Fred Miljak, husband Bryan Nance, uncles Michael Bignoli (Judy), Tony Bignoli, Joe Bignoli (Joan), and aunt Kathy Higgins (Steve). Catherine was dearly loved and made special impressions on everyone she met.
She was a foodie and a lover of animals, nature, fun, and adventure. One aspect of her fun-loving personality was how much she enjoyed costuming. From a young age, she enjoyed making her own costumes, especially at Halloween. She was confident and creative in how she expressed herself with speech, writing and art. Catherine was articulate, artistic, and intelligent. And a loyal friend and wise counsel to all who knew her. She was a strong advocate for the underprivileged and lived her life with an adventurous spirit.
Catherine gave her all to any endeavor she took on. She loved wholeheartedly and with commitment. She was an insightful spirit who thought deeply, to gain a richer understanding of herself and others. All that she gave of herself to others in love, thought, or counsel, and in every way, will live on in them forever.
A visitation and lunch will be held Saturday, February 24 starting at 10:30 am in the banquet room at Pine Crest Cemetery, located at 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama. This will be followed by a graveside service, presided by Father William Skoneki.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your choice of local animal shelters can be made in Catherine’s honor.
