
Mary Catherine Mangold Richards - a 96 year-old native and resident of Mobile passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012. Mrs. Richards retired from Providence Hospital after more than 25 years of service as a unit secretary. She was a former Girl Scout Troop leader, a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Women's Auxiliaries, volunteered with the Red Cross and the Biloxi V.A. Hospital, as well worked as an election poll worker. Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her son, William "Billy" McDowell, Jr., and was the last of the children of the the late Harry and Nellie Mangold. She is survived by her children, Cathy McDowell Smith (Raymond), Elizabeth Ann McDowell Jackson (Ernest), Helen McDowell Ulm (Erich), and Robert "Bobby" McDowell (Carma); 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; dear friend, Sister Leah; nieces and nephews including Dwaine Mangold and Glenn Mangold; other relatives and friends. A celebration of Mrs. Richard's life will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 4265 Michael Blvd., Mobile, AL 36606.
