
Born in Irbid, Jordan to Ibrahim and Fadiah Sahawneh, Mr. Sahawneh married Kamle Augustine Shorrosh on October 9th, 1949.
Mr. Sahawneh joined the Jordanian Army at age 17, served in WWII and retired from the army after over 30 years of service. In 1972, he emigrated from Jordan and served in a number of jobs until his retirement.
He was a longtime, active member of Moffett Road Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for 10 years. A devoted Christian, he was known for his strong faith, kindness and service as a prayer leader.
Mr. Sahawneh is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kamle; children, Dr. Mazen Sahawneh and wife Monica, Dr. Maher Sahawneh and wife Janet, Munther Sahawneh and wife Samiya, Maisoun (Sahawneh) Brennan and husband Patrick, Moeen Sahawneh and wife Rula, Selvya (Sahawneh) Boyd and husband Marc; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Moffett Road Baptist Church at 11:00am Saturday, 3 March. Pastor Dr. Terry Cutrer will preside. Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for family only at 4:00-5:00pm and for family and friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, March 2. Following internment services at Mobile Memorial Gardens, there will be a reception at Moffett Road Baptist Church to celebrate the life of a faithful husband, father and Christian.
