
Nell Rikard Massey, age 80, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on August 26, 2022, in hospice care in Kingston Springs, Tennessee, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born on August 1, 1942, and was a graduate of Semmes High School in Semmes, Alabama. After a brief stent residing in Hoover, Alabama, she remained a resident of Mobile, Alabama, until her passing. Her professional career was spent as a corporate secretary for Waller Brothers Office Supply in the 1960s and early 1970s until she became a mother and homemaker in 1972. She enjoyed home décor, swimming, and gardening. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama. Her proudest achievements were her marriage and the birth of her children. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell Wayne Massey (Abby Phillips Massey) and Jason Forrest Massey, Ed.D. (Lori Herrington Massey, Ph.D.); grandchildren Noah Wayne Massey, Reagan Grace Massey, and Quinn Forrest Massey; sister Launa Rikard Johnson; as well as other nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Wilber Wayne Massey (2010); parents Frank Forrest Rikard (1972) and Nell Williamson Rikard (1988); as well as other siblings.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2 PM at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to personal charities or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
