She met and eventually married Richard F. Boney, a Yeoman for the United States Navy, and they married on February 5, 1955. When Richard had completed his tour with the Navy, they moved to the United States. Richard brought Norma to Oxford, Mississippi so that he could complete his degree in Pharmacy. They adopted Mark before moving to Mobile as that is where Norma chose to live.
Together they lived in Mobile and raised 3 children, Mark, Julie and Michelle.
Richard owned his own drug store, but after some robberies and being fire bombed, he sold the store and went to work at Providence Hospital. He then received an opportunity to work for the County of Mobile Health Department at first in the Pharmacy, then at the Maternity and Infant Care Center. He finally chose to work at the University of South Alabama Hospital where he would combine the chemicals for the chemotherapy patients.
During this time, Norma was being a wonderful mother and cook, she started substitute teaching and eventually became the secretary for one of the elementary schools in Mobile.
They enjoyed their friends, traveling, and square dancing. Richard passed away in 2001 from cancer, and later she started dating a widower from the square dance club, Edgar Morris. They married in 2003 and enjoyed their families, traveling and dancing until Edgar’s death in early 2022.
Norma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and spent some time in an assisted living facility and eventually had to go to Memory Care. She finally came to live with Julie and Jim where she spent the rest of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Florence Austin; her husband, Richard Boney; her son, Mark Boney; her son-in-law, Steve Kinsey; her grandson, Jason Stocking; and her second husband, Edgar Morris.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie (James) Lawlor, and Michelle Kinsey; her grandchildren, Kristy (Thomas) Sherrer, Joel (Rebecca) Stocking, Austin (Alyssa) Wilder, Timothy (Kimberly) Wilder and Jason (Emily) Boney; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the burial at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street from 11:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. procession to the cemetery.
