

Born Oct. 24, 1935, died Apr. 26, 2016, at Providence Hospital. A native of Mobile, Eric graduated from Murphy High School and attended Auburn University. After serving in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Tweedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he had a long career as an estimator in the fabrication industry. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve Smith Joseph and Otto Ernst Joseph. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Miller Joseph; sister Judy Joseph Anderson of Dallas; son Mark Eric Joseph (Jan); daughter Robin Joseph King (Chuck); granddaughters Allison King and Kate, Emma, and Julia Joseph; and other dear relatives and friends. Eric was a long-time member of Community of Christ Church, where he served as Elder and sang in the choir. He was also a long-time member of the Pride of Mobile Barbershop Chorus. He sang bass in the Four Old Hearts quartet, which brightened many birthdays, Valentine’s, and other special occasions. Eric was also a military history buff, bird-watcher, and Auburn fan. A devoted grandfather, he loved attending his granddaughters’ school programs, concerts, and shows. A graveside service will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, on Friday, Apr. 29 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 11 a.m. at Community of Christ Church, 672 Azalea Rd.
