Paula Jean (Hayden) Barbee

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 8, 1951, Paula was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, David R. Barbee; her parents, Calvin and Jean Hayden; and her brother, John S. Hayden.

She is survived by her sisters, Julia (Jim) Dunning and Catherine (Jack) Mills; her stepson, Dirac (Tonya) Barbee; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members, many friends, and her sweet cat Buddy, all of whom will hold her memory close and miss her dearly.

Paula was a longtime member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. She was deeply dedicated to her career, working for several financial institutions, FEMA, and most recently with the Office of the Chapter 13 Trustee of the Southern District of Alabama, where she retired in May 2025.

She will be remembered for her contagious laugh that could fill a room, and how effortlessly conversations with her could stretch on for hours, as well as her enjoyment of a good piña colada.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service in Pine Crest Cemetery on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Paula’s memory.
