

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Edna Safin; sisters Pauline Lee and Ruth Howey, brother Albert Safin all of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; and his father-in-law, Francis Fath. Mr. Safin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy; two daughters Karen Maureen Safin and Melissa Diane Safin; two sisters Gertrude Safin and Iola Singer; two brothers Clifford (Violet) Safin and Millard (Barbara) Safin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives of East Stoudsburg. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Patrick (Mary Alice) Fath of Daphne, Alabama and Howard (Justine) Fath of Theodore, Alabama; a beloved aunt, Elizabeth Buhring (God’s special angel), cousins Tom (Cindy) Buhring and Bill (Lynn) Wildberger; special friends Steve Galle, and Joey Warner (Thank you Joey for your love and support!); and his buddies from the City of Mobile Mechanical Department.
Richard was a loyal and dedicated 58 year employee with the City of Mobile where he served as the Department Head of the Mechanical Systems. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church where, in his early years, he served as a lector and a member of the choir. Since air conditioning was his specialty, he volunteered his services to his church and the school. He was also a proud member of the United States Navy, having served six years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church, 2053 Government St. Mobile, AL on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will immediately follow services at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church or School.
