Mr. Richard Nash VanBenschoten- A native of Fort Sill, OK and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL died in a local hospital after a short illness on Sunday January 29, 2012. He was a graduate of Auburn University and retired from Scott Paper Company. He was a member of the Mobile County Board of Realtors and a local mystic society. Preceding him in death were his parents, Colonel E.S. and Emogene VanBenschoten and his brother, Elmer VanBenschoten, II. Survivors include his daughter, Genie (Chris) Chevrier, Charleston, S.C.; 2 step children, Jo (Danny) Dunaway and Steve (Nancy) Elstner, both of Mobile; 2 sisters, Virginia VanBenschoten, Charleston, S.C. and Libby Buckley, Tustin, CA and other relatives. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 4 until 6 PM. Memorials may be made to Catholic Social Services or your favorite charity.
