

Mr. Robert Berkeley Bush, Jr. of Gulf Shores, AL and a long-time resident of Yazoo City, MS, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2016. He was born on October 16, 1940 and was the son of Col. Robert B Bush, Sr. and Ella Posey Gordon Bush of Mobile, AL. He attended UMS and was a graduate of Murphy High School. Berkeley loved Auburn University and was proud to be a member of Auburn’s 1957 National Championship football team and the first SEC Championship basketball team, 1959-60. From there, he became an Assistant Basketball Coach for the University of Southern Mississippi and was a loyal member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. It was at USM, where he met his beloved wife of 52 years, Sandra Melkild Bush. Berkeley “Bob” is survived by his wife Sandy Bush; daughter Natalie Bush Davis; son and daughter-in-law Berkeley and Elizabeth Bush; grandchildren Anna Catherine, William, and Patrick; sister-in-law Kathy Melkild, and cousins Lucy Beaven Cope, Horace Harrison Beaven, Edie Murphy Dunn, Roberta Murphy Wright, Lee Shearer Brettman; and beloved dogs Spiffy and Gordon. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, September 8th, at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile - Dauphin Street from 12:30 – 1:30. Graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charley Chase officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Bob Bush to Second Presbyterian Church, PO Box 177, Yazoo City, MS 39194.
