Robert Richard “Dick” Houston, a long time resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at Providence Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Dick was born April 3, 1943 in Versailles, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Houston, his step-father Arnold Kuykendall, and wife Wanda Houston. He attended the Colorado School of Mines, and graduated in June of 1965. He retired in March 1992 after a long career with Shell Chemical and DuPont. In his retirement he actively pursued his lifelong passion for fishing, and was always a loving and devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his longtime companion and lifeline Monique Morrow; mother, Marguerite Kuykendall of Center, TX; brother, Bill Houston (Sandy); children, David Houston (Trish) of Mobile, AL, and Michael Houston (Kate) of Deerfield, IL; and his four grandchildren, Jackson Houston, Jordan Houston, Fisher Houston, and McKinley Houston. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will host friends at Dick’s home in Mobile on Saturday, September 1st from 1-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to The Ronald McDonald House or The Wounded Warrior Project.
