Robert Townsend Schneider

Robert Townsend Schneider, 84, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017. He was born in Lancaster, PA, to Jacob John Schneider, Jr., and Marie Townsend Schneider, but was a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. He was a bat boy for the Mobile Bears in the 1940’s, and Mr. Schneider was a graduate of McGill Institute. He attended both Spring Hill College and LSU. He entered the insurance field in 1956, and headed his own family agency, Schneider Insurance Agency since 1959. He was a past President of Mobile Independent Insurance Agents in 1978 and was declared “Man of the Year” in his respective field. He was also a member of the Mobile Chamber of Commerce and Life Underwriters Association. Mr. Schneider served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church as well as a past President of the Jubilee Club and Travel Chairman for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob J. Schneider, Jr. and Marie Townsend Schneider; and brother J. John Schneider, III.

Mr. Schneider is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol Lagman Schneider; sons, Stephen Schneider, Paul Schneider, James (Kathleen) Schneider, Carl (Rebecca) Schneider, John (Cecilia) Schneider, Richard (Odile) Schneider, and Frank Schneider; daughters, Rose Mary Schneider (John) Arenstam and Jean Schneider (Mark) Russell; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marie Schneider Langan.

Visitation for Mr. Schneider will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in the parish church, with a funeral mass following at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
