Ruth Alyce Wimberly, 96, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2019 in Mobile, Alabama. Ruth was born to Sim and Anne Ward on August 9, 1923 in Robertsdale, Alabama. Ruth was an accomplished homemaker. She was an expert at sewing – she could sew without a pattern and loved to knit. Ruth was also fond of cooking and an avid reader. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mobile for decades.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Wimberly, Sr.
She is survived by her four children, Charles C. Wimberly, Jr., Cindy Nicholson, Mindy Norman, and Amy Wimberly; grandchildren, Trey Wimberly, Erin Risco, Wendy Enfinger, Lindsay Rogers, Leslie Hawkins, Dawn Smith, William White, Rachael Alday, and Chance Alday; great-grandchildren, Eliza Wimberly, Ethan Wimberly, Ashley Enfinger, Wimberly Grey, Mia Floyd, Trey Hawkins, Kayden Carpenter, Eloise Smith, Avery Smith, Oliver Hiltz, Rose Alday, Cory Alday, Gunner Alday, and Annabelle Alday; one brother, Max Ward; as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
