On September 11, 2013, Sophia K. Pappas of Mobile, Al passed away at home surrounded by her daughter, Elaine and granddaughter, Kristen. She was a beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend. Sophia was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 20, 1918, to her parents, Ellen and James Kantelis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chrisostomos (Tom) Pappas. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Elaine Clikas (Steve Clikas, Jr) of Mobile, Al and Florence Carr (Neil R.E. Carr) of McLean, VA; her grandchildren Steve Clikas III, Kristen Clikas Murphree, Tessa Carr and Thomas Carr; cousins, Georgia Flesser, Tasia Paulk and William Triantos and many friends. For over 60 years she was active in the church she loved, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Mobile. She was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and a lifelong participant in the cooking and baking for the annual Greek Festival. She was an excellent seamstress and baker that patiently taught her children and grandchildren the art of sewing and baking. She had a kind heart and a very sweet nature with a smile on her face and a positive attitude that will be sorely missed. Her spirit will live on in her children and grandchildren for eternity. Visitation will be at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 50 South Ann Street, Mobile, Al 36604 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery, Dauphin Island Parkway. Pallbearers will be Steve Clikas, III, Thomas Carr, Mark Murphree, Neil Carr, Greg Saad, John Saad, James Saad, Billy Triantos, George Coumanis, Jimmy Pafudakis and Jimmy Lignos.
