

He was born on October 19, 1926 to Agnes Ewald Broun and Charles Deas Broun. A 1947 graduate of Murphy High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Steve spent the majority of his professional career in the printing equipment manufacturing industry. He also had careers involving the maintenance of lighthouses along the Gulf Coast, and various oilfield operations in Texas.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law Daniel Loyd. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Melvin Broun; daughter Sharon and husband David Keeler; son Stephen Broun and Dottie Kendrick; daughter Susan Loyd; daughter Sandra Broun; four grandchildren: Aaron Brown, Kara Fenton, Katie Fenton and Madeline Lowry; brother, Rolfe Broun; sisters, Dorothy B. Joseph, Minnie B. Lose and his devoted friends Frank and Doris Keeler, and Mike and Barbara Wright.
Visitation at Mobile Memorial Gardens will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2 followed by a graveside service at 10:00 am.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Keeler, Greg Kaiser, Bill Joseph, Eric Joseph, Wayne Strickland, Mike Wright; and Frank S. Keeler, Jr. as honorary pallbearer.
