Susan Hatter Crowson, age 78, of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She grew up in Robertsdale and graduated from Robertsdale High School, Judson College in Marion Alabama and the University of Tennessee School of Social Work in Nashville Tennessee. She retired from the Alabama Department of Human Resources having worked in Baldwin County, Sumter County, Tuscaloosa County and Mobile County and in the State Offices for Child Support Enforcement and Child Welfare. She also worked for the Catholic Social Services of Mobile in the adoption program.
Susan was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812, The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, Mayflowers Descendants and Jamestowne Society. She was a docent at the Richards DAR House Museum for over 10 years and served on the Board. She loved helping others in their genealogy research for their family and volunteered one Saturday a month at the Mobile Public Library Local History and Genealogy for over 15 years.
Susan enjoyed traveling abroad to Greece, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Portugal and Iceland. She made trips to Scotland with her family. Her Clan is the Urquhart Clan. The Urquhart Castle is on Loch Ness. Didn't see "Nessie".
She was a former member of several Mardi Gras Societies. She was a member of Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal) and the Daughters of the King.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forney King Hatter and Blanche West Hatter and son, Ronald Leon "Lee" Weekley. Jr. and sister Eulila Anne Fisk and mother-in-law Gladys W. Crowson.
Survivors include her husband, James Edward Crowson, son, William Jason (Scott) Weekley, stepson, Jason Leslie Crowson, special nephew James Michael Odom, grandchildren, Mary Scott Weekley, Anne Hatter Weekley, Dylan Blaise Morris Crowson and Tucker Slade (Anna Rose) Crowson, other nieces, nephews and cousin.
A Memorial Service honoring and celebrating Susan's life will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 115 South Conception Street, Mobile, Alabama 36602 on May 30, 2025. Visitation at 10am. Memorial service at 11am with burial at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile Alabama 36605.
