Susan Young Mosley passed away on January 17, 2026 in Mobile, Alabama at the age of 89. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 11:00 am at All Saints Episcopal Church. Susan was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 15, 1936 and was raised in Greenwood, Mississippi. She graduated from Millsaps College, where she received a B.A. in history and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. While working in banking in Jackson, Mississippi, she met her husband, Dr. Donald Crumpton Mosley, on a blind date. They married on April 8, 1961. After living in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Starkville, Mississippi as a young married couple, their adventurous spirits and love of travel led them to spend a year living abroad in New Zealand. In 1973, Susan and Donald moved to Mobile, Alabama with their son, Don Mosley, Jr., making it their home.
Susan was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church and volunteered in the Mobile community throughout her life. She always looked forward to her weekly bridge gatherings with friends and especially loved being part of the “Ladies that Lunch” at All Saints Episcopal Church after Donald passed away. She and Donald were avid Mississippi State football fans who rarely missed a game. Even after Donald’s death, Susan continued the tradition, traveling with her son to attend games and spend time with extended family. Susan was a fabulous cook, eventually handing over the holiday cooking duties to her son, daughter-in-law, and grand-daughters. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners will always include her signature dishes along with a toast to the hostess who created memories the family will hold dear.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Leonard Young and Martha Baird Young and her husband Donald Crumpton Mosley. She is survived by her son Don C. Mosley, Jr. (Emily) and granddaughters Meredith Mosley and Caroline Mosley. Memorials to honor Susan can be made to the Donald C. Mosley, Sr. Endowed Scholarship in the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama or to All Saints Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
